Thessaly Project

In January 2017, InterVolve started offering a weekly fresh vegetable distribution at the Larissa-Koutsochero camp, which,at the time hosted a large population of roughly 850, half of whom were children.

Since January we have been working hard alongside residents to address some of their priority needs, and to add some resources, opportunities, and colour to the camp.

Currently we are on site six days a week and offer a varied programme of activities for adults and children including:

  • Children’s library and informal education activities
  • Self guided adult learning sessions
  • Adult education (led by resident volunteers and members of the team)
  • Young Peoples Sessions
  • The Pink Room – a beauty salon, crafts and self care space for women
  • Adult games and sports activities
  • Movie Nights
  • Special events
  • A free shop offering Food, Hygiene and other items using a points based distribution system which increases choice and dignity

We have also worked with partners the Timber Project, to built a community shade structure and a free shop from which we deliver dry food, fresh vegetables, baby and hygiene products.
